The Howden Melrose Sevens is delighted to announce that Gillespie Macandrew, specialist legal advisors to individuals, families and businesses, have renewed their sponsorship for this year’s event.

Taking place on Saturday 23rd May, Gillespie Macandrew will once again sponsor the Melrose 1st VII playing jerseys, as well as the mascots for the Open U18 Tournament, reflecting the firm’s ongoing commitment to supporting wellbeing, community events and giving young people opportunities to engage in physical activity

Melrose 1st VII’s have worn the Gillespie Macandrew sponsored jerseys during their successful Kings of the Sevens campaign, where they currently sit top of the table. The home side will be hoping to go one step further at the Howden Melrose Sevens after narrowly losing to Shogun in last year’s final.

Doug Crawford, Melrose Rugby General Manager, shared his delight about the relationship:

“I’m delighted to see Gillespie Macandrew back on board for the 2026 Howden Melrose Sevens. They have been great supporters of rugby at the Greenyards over the last two seasons, and I look forward to welcoming them back to the Sevens on the 23rd May as well as participating in our new Golf tournament launched this year. Having been a mascot myself a long time ago, I’m excited that other young kids will get to experience running out in front of a packed crowd at the Greenyards.”

Amy McDowell, Partner and Head of Gillespie Macandrew’s ESG Committee, said:

“The Melrose Sevens and their Open U18 Youth tournament is a cornerstone of the Scottish sporting calendar and a celebration of talent and teamwork. Supporting opportunities for young players to be part of this iconic event reflects our ongoing commitment to responsible business and to the communities in which we work.”

The Howden Melrose Sevens continues to build on its legacy as the Home of Rugby Sevens. With the support of partners like Gillespie Macandrew, the event remains committed to enhancing the atmosphere and providing a platform for rugby’s next generation.
