Melrose Sevens is delighted to confirm the return of the Merchiston Castle School Junior Coaching Clinic, delivered in partnership with St. Mary’s School, Melrose, as part of the 2026 tournament weekend.
The clinic will take place on Friday 22 May 2026, from 1:30pm to 2:30pm at the Greenyards, with registration opening at 1:15pm. The session is free to attend and open to boys and girls aged 9–14 from across the Scottish Borders and beyond.
Now a well-established and much-anticipated part of Sevens weekend, the Junior Coaching Clinic provides young players with the opportunity to learn from experienced coaches, develop core rugby skills and experience playing on the iconic Greenyards pitch – the birthplace of rugby sevens.

Merchiston Castle School has a long-standing tradition of supporting rugby development in the Borders and beyond, and the clinic reflects a shared commitment between Melrose Sevens, Merchiston and St. Mary’s School to strengthen youth rugby pathways and inspire the next generation of players.
The Junior Coaching Clinic remains an important part of the Friday programme at Melrose 7s, reinforcing the tournament’s continued investment in grassroots development and community engagement.
Pre-registration is required as spaces are limited, and young players are encouraged to secure their place early.
